State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf responded to questions about the Obama administration’s efforts to find and obtain the return of retired FBI agent Robert Levinson who had been missing since a 2007 trip to Iran. The AP had recently reported Mr. Levinson was a contractor for the CIA. Deputy Spokesperson Harf said the State Department was “pursuing all avenues to bring him home” including consulting with Iranians and that it had been a top priority for the U.S. and that President Obama and Secretary Kerry had raised the issue with Iranian leaders.
