Author David Christensen talked about the book, The Red Umbrella: Danish Resistance and Johna’s Escape from Nazi Occupation, which tells the story of his sister Johna’s escape from Nazi occupation of Denmark in 1943. Alongside her parents, Johna fled to Sweden to escape the Nazis when she was 6 years old.
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Bellingham, Washington, from December 9-12 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed.
