Council of Economic Advisers Chair Jason Furman opened the daily White House briefing with an assessment of the economy. Topics included the extension of unemployment benefits. He responded to questions from reporters. Then White House Press Secretary Jay Carney took questions on a variety of topics including the report on National Security Agency surveillance programs by the President’s Review Group on Intelligence and Communications Technologies.
