Daryl Black, Executive Director of the Chattanooga History Center, talked about the Tennessee Valley Authority and how it transformed the Chattanooga region and improved the lives of residents of the area. During the 1930s, the Tennessee Valley Authority built dams to harness the region’s rivers, at once controlling floods and generating electricity for the region.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Chattanooga, Tennessee, from December 15-19 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
