Treasury Secretary Jack Lew was interviewed by John Bussy of the Wall Street Journal. They talked about the health of the U.S. economy, the future of financial reform, and his department’s international agenda. Regarding the February 7, 2014, deadline to raise the debt limit, he urged Congress to act well in advance of this date, saying that waiting until the last minute would be a mistake and only damage the economy. He also mentioned President Obama’s fast track authority to negotiate trade agreements with other countries. Secretary Lew also answered questions from audience members. close
