Allman Brothers Band and the Birth of Southern Rock
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Macon, Georgia, from January 20-23 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Lisa McLendon talked about the Allman Brothers Band, who helped establish the “Southern Rock” sound and called Macon home during the height of their success. The “Big House” is a house in Macon that several members of the Allman Brothers Band along with friends and roadies called home during the early 1970's. Ms. McLeod toured the home and showed some of the items that belonged to the band members.
