House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and members of the Democratic Caucus briefed reporters and answered questions on issues discussed at the party’s retreat. Representative Xavier Becerra told reporters that the caucus was considering a discharge petition to start the process of getting the needed number of votes to allow a House vote to raise the minimum wage.

A discharge petition is a procedure that allows a bill to be brought out of committee without a report and to the floor for consideration without the approval of House leadership.

At the beginning of the news conference, women members of the caucus presented their “What Women Need” video, a campaign promoting “equal pay for equal work.” close
