State and Defense Department officials and Middle East experts testified on Lebanon’s future. The previous day, February 24, Israeli jets carried out air strikes in eastern Lebanon. The targets were reportedly trucks carrying weapons from Syria to Lebanon’s Hezbollah. Lebanon had also felt the strain of nearly 1 million Syrian refugees fleeing the war in their country. close
