The results of the annual straw poll were given on a variety of political issues, including that a plurality of participants favored legalizing marijuana for both recreational and medical purpose. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was voted the preferred presidential candidate. The Straw Poll, sponsored by The Washington Times, was conducted by Fabrizio, Lee & Associates. Before the results were announced Mr. Beasley announced the awarding of paid internships to student journalists at The Washington Times.

This was part of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), hosted by the American Conservative Union Foundation at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. close
