Fiona Hill, Michael O’Hanlon and Steven Pifer talked about Russian intervention in Ukraine, the international response, and the future relationship between the two countries. Ms. Hill offered insight into the leadership style of Vladimir Putin and also discussed his approval rating. Former Ambassador Pifer talked about the interim Ukrainian parliament, the referendum over Crimea, and what could happen if Russia takes over Crimea. Mr. O’Hanlon was adamant about economic sanctions against the “Putin elite,” and said sanctions would send a strong signal to the world. This panel was hosted by the Brookings Institution. close
