Three young Ukrainians offered their insights and perspectives on the unfolding situation in their country. Mr. Vorobiov said that in America there are three mistaken assumptions about Ukraine. First, Ukrainians are not primarily interested in joining the European Union, but in gaining their freedom. Second, the struggle is not Eastern versus Western Ukraine, but people versus criminals. Third, there are not as many Russian supporters in Crimea as has been reported by the Russian media. He argued that the local Crimean population does not have access to any news outside of Russian media and thus are misinformed. Helle Dale, a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, moderated this event. close
