Donald Hopkins talks about his photographic history book, Robert E. Lee in War and Peace, in which he presents images of Confederate general of Robert E. Lee accompanied by text discussing Lee’s life and antique photographic techniques. Dr. Hopkins researched his book in part at the Museum of the Confederacy. Dr. Hopkins, a Mississippi surgeon and lifelong student of the U.S. Civil War and Southern history, searched manuscript repositories and private collections across the country to locate every known Robert E. Lee image in existence today. Many of the images were published for the first time in Hopkins' book. close
