Todd Purdum talked about his book, An Idea Whose Time Has Come: Two Presidents, Two Parties, and the Battle for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, in which he recounts the political battle to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Mr. Purdum’s book focuses on the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, the House of Representatives, and the Senate. He was interviewed by Wendell Pritchett and responded to questions submitted by members of the audience.
