Ben Tarnoff talked about his book, The Bohemians: Mark Twain and the San Francisco Writers Who Reinvented American Literature, in which he recounts Mark Twain’s residence in San Francisco in the 1860's and the relationship he forged with three other writers that were collectively known as “the Bohemians.” In his book, the author reports that Twain, who arrived in San Francisco in 1863 at twenty-seven years old, doubted his writing while his compatriot, Bret Harte, was lauded. Ben Tarnoff spoke at City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco. close
