Brian Bennett talked about his Los Angeles Times article challenging the high deportation figures under President Obama. He explained that the Obama administration inherited “robust machinery” enacted during the George W. Bush administration deportation and that the goal of President Obama was to use what was already in place to focus on those who pose a threat to public and those who had recently crossed the border. He argued that while public perception was that more people were being deported, the reality was that “the number of people who have been deported from inside the continental United States has actually decreased.” close
