William Easterly talked about his book, The Tyranny of Experts: Economists, Dictators, and the Forgotten Rights of the Poor, in which he argues that the United Nations and other organizations have failed to reduce global poverty since World War II. Professor Easterly argued that poverty experts too often look for short-term technical solutions and don’t consider the role that a lack of political and economic rights plays in keeping people in poverty. He spoke at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, California. close
