Jacob Soll talked about his book, The Reckoning: Financial Accountability and the Rise and Fall of Nations, in which he examines the use of financial accounting throughout history and its affect on the life and death of civilizations. In his book, the author reports on the earliest examples of book keeping, the establishment of transparent accounting in the 19th century, and argues that fraudulence and misunderstood accounting resulted in the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and the recent economic recession. Jacob Soll spoke at Columbia University in New York City. close
