Marie Harf briefed reporters and responded to questions on a variety of international issues. Topics included White House e-mails released about Benghazi. She had a sometimes heated exchange with reporters over that day’s Benghazi hearing. She said the notion that the State Department did not do everything they could to protect “our people” that night was “disgusting". She then talked about all the hearings and briefings the departments have had in response to Benghazi and agreed with comments made by White House spokesman Jay Carney made in a briefing. She said "playing politics” was not the way to address the Benghazi situation. close
