House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) held his weekly legislative briefing with reporters. Speaker Boehner talked about jobs and the U.S. economy. He talked about several bills in the Senate that he argued would create news jobs but that Senate Democrats would not bring them up for votes. He also responded to questions from reporters on a variety of issues, including the House select committee that was being created to investigate the September 11, 2012, attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Other topics included the U.S. response to the kidnapping of 300 Nigerian school girls, and calls for Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki to step down. close
