The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) held an open commission meeting on promoting an open Internet, wireless spectrum use, telecommunications, and promoting competition and innovation. Commissioners voted 3-2 in favor of a proposal aimed at guaranteeing an open Internet and prohibiting Internet service providers from blocking or discriminating against legal content moving through their networks. The plan would allow content providers such as Netflix to pay for a guaranteed “fast lane” of service. close
