Utah State Capitol Building

Sara Howard talked about Utah’s State Capitol Building. Topics included how Salt Lake City became the capital of Utah and the role played by Mormon leader Brigham Young. She also talked about an heiress to a train empire who funded much of the building’s construction, and told stories of pioneers who traveled through Utah before it became a state.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Salt Lake City, Utah, from May 4-8 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
