President Obama made remarks at a ceremony in Castle Square in Warsaw marking the 25th anniversary of Poland’s first free elections. President Obama contrasted that Polish anniversary with the crackdown on student protestors happening that same day in Tiananmen Square 25 years ago. He warned that free countries must be ever vigilant and said that Russia was resorting to the “dark tactics of the 20th century” in Ukraine. Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and Warsaw Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz also spoke at an event attended by many world and Polish leaders. close
