Mary Alice Welty White and Bridget Edwards talked about the life and writing process of Eudora Welty, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Optimist’s Daughter. A Mississippi native, Ms. Welty did much of her writing at her home in Jackson, using the South as inspiration for her work. Mary Alice Welty White is Eudora Welty’s niece.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Jackson, Mississippi, from April 24-29 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments aired on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments aired on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
