To mark the June 27, 2013, one-year anniversary of the Senate passing immigration reform, the AFL-CIO hosted a forum on the economic and humanitarian impact of inaction on the issue in the House of Representatives. In the first of two forums, Richard Trumka outlined the economic consequences of congressional inaction on immigration.reform. He described employer wage theft such as not paying for overtime or hours worked, denial of work breaks, no workers compensation, and unsafe working conditions. Following his remarks, Latino leaders talked about ways that labor unions can work to get a vote on immigration reform in the House and the impact of President Obama immigration executive initiatives. close
