David Willman talked about the Ground Midcourse Defense System (GMD). The system was designed to protect the U.S. from possible missile attacks from “rogue states” such as North Korea and Iran. After a $40B dollar investment, however, the system proved unreliable in controlled tests and there were concerns on if it would actually perform in an actual attack.
