Entrepreneurs and leaders in business, government, civil society, and the media discussed the change in U.S. priorities in Africa from foreign aid to business opportunities. Panelists said mobile phones were changing Africa, and stressed the need to not look at Africa as a continent but as over 50 separate nations. They said that investors see the continent as Africa instead of separate countries with separate standards of governance and issues.

“The Game Has Changed: The New Landscape for Innovation and Business in Africa” was a day-long forum held by the Brookings Institution’s Africa Growth Initiative at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel. close
