First Minister Alex Salmond responded to questions from members of Parliament, including on a referendum on whether the country should break away from the United Kingdom to form an independent Scotland. First Minister Salmond defended an independent Scotland and answered questions on a possible currency union with the United Kindom. The British coalition government had ruled out any possibility of a currency union if Scotland were to become independent. One Conservative member in the Scottish Parliament said, “You can’t get divorced and keep the joint account.” close
