Telephone lines were open for viewer comments on President Obama’s speech presenting the U.S. strategy to confront Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) militants in Syria and Iraq, and viewer reflection on the 13th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Video clips from the previous day were shown of President Obama’s address to the nation and speeches by former Vice President Dick Cheney and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). Live scenes were also shown from September 11 remembrance events at the White House, the Pentagon, in New York City, and the U.S. House of Representatives. New York Times national security correspondent David Sanger spoke by telephone.
