Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Thomas Frieden, and Texas health officials participating by telephone, briefed reporters on the first confirmed case of Ebola diagnosed in the United States. The patient was being treated at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. The exposed patient showed no symptoms of illness when he flew into the country from Liberia on a commercial flight. CDC Director Frieden said the next steps were tracking people who had contact with the patient. He assured people that the disease would be stopped. He reminded people that Ebola does not spread by air and is not contagious until the person gets sick. close
