Mike Hoeft talked about his book, The Bingo Queens of Oneida: How Two Moms Started Tribal Gaming in Wisconsin, in which he tells the story of Sandra Ninham and Alma Webster, two Oneida women that brought gaming to the Green Bay area in the late 1970's. Ms. Ninham and Ms. Webster started playing bingo at a local recreation center to help pay the bills and through a growing interest and a series of legal battles they began to buy Oneida land back and paved the way for the Oneida Casinos, the largest employer for members of the tribe.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Green Bay, Wisconsin, from September 20-26 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. close
