Matt Mayberry, director of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, gave a tour of an exhibit on tuberculosis and displayed medical equipment used to treat patients with the disease. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, tuberculosis treatment was one of the Colorado Springs' biggest economic drivers. The city’s population grew due to the amount of people who moved to Colorado Springs to treat the disease.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from September 11-17 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
