Panelists talked about the return of human remains and funerary objects to Native American lands. 2014 marked the 25th anniversary of the National Museum of the American Indian Act. The law established the museum on the National Mall as a part of the Smithsonian Institution, and encouraged the Smithsonian to return any Native American human remains and funerary objects to federally recognized Indian tribes.

“Going Home: 25 Years of Repatriation Under the NMAI Act” was a symposium to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1989 National Museum of the American Indian Act. close
