The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee held a hearing on President Obama’s nominees to head the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, be assistant Transportation secretary, and serve on the National Transportation Safety Board. The nominees said public safety would be their number one priority if confirmed. Senators asked many questions regarding defects in vehicular airbags manufactured by Japanese supplier Takata that had prompted a series of recalls. close
