State of the Indian Nations Address
Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), chair of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, provided the congressional response, saying Congress needed to reverse federal policies that were detrimental to Indian nations and children, and to improve the justice system for youths. Brian Cladoosby delivered his annual State of Indian Nations address. He said Indian country was getting stronger, and urged members of Congress to to make visiting Indian country a priority in 2015. In addition, he criticized the use of the word “redskins” by the National Football League and other corporate entities and called on Americans to stand up for the rights of American Indians.
