German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel delivered remarks at an international security conference. She talked about her meetings earlier in the week in Kiev with Ukrainian President Poroshenko and in Moscow with Russian President Putin on ending the Ukraine conflict. She said the crisis in Ukraine would not be solved by military means, and the peace accord reached the previous year in Minsk should be implemented. During the audience question period Senate Foreign Relations Chair Bob Corker asked her about possible defensive military aid for Ukraine.

The 51st annual Munich Security Conference was a three-day event at Bayerischer Hof Hotel to bring together heads of state as well as foreign and defense ministers to discuss international cooperation in dealing with global security issues.
