Communicators with Michael Powell Michael Powell discussed his opposition to the new rules Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Tom Wheeler proposed the previous week to ensure net neutrality. He agreed that new rules were needed to ensure an open Internet but he called the approach proposed by Chair Wheeler, which called for regulating the Internet as a public utility, “the worst possible way” to regulate the Internet. Former FCC Chair Powell spoke as president and chief executive officer of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association, the nation’s largest group of Internet providers. close
