Kit Keating gave a tour of the site where it is believed Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon landed in America while supposedly searching for the “Fountain of Youth.” This is the same site where Pedro Menendez de Aviles landed in 1565 and began a Spanish settlement, making St. Augustine the oldest continuous European settlement in the United States. Mr. Keating also talked about the impact Spanish settlement had on the Seloy Native Americans already living in the area.
