Bill Wagnon talked about “Bleeding Kansas,” the series of violent political confrontations from 1854-1961 between anti-slavery and pro-slavery elements in the Kansas Territory and neighboring towns in the state of Missouri. He also gave a tour of the former home of abolitionists John and Mary Ritchie, who were involved in the “free state” movement and in the development of Topeka. The home was also part of the Underground Railroad.
