Craig Fugate testified on the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) fiscal year 2016 budget request. The request totaled $7.4 billion for disaster preparedness and resiliency. Administrator Fugate said there was a need for anticipation and mitigation of disasters, not just recovery. He also said that FEMA needed to update its computer systems. He said that using older computer systems was not only a security risk, but it also cost more to work with outdated computer systems than it did to update these systems. close
