Democratic presidential nominee Governor Bill Clinton (D-AR) spoke to a large crowd of students and supporters at Macomb County Community College in Warren, Michigan. Preceded by remarks by Senator Donald Riegle (D-MI), and Representatives Sander Levin (D-MI), and David Bonior (D-MI). Troupes of Polish and Italian dancers performed as well. Gov. Clinton spoke on his campaign initiatives concerning education. He criticized President George H. W. Bush for declining to participate in a campaign debate in Michigan scheduled for the following Tuesday and detailed the failures in the president’s economic program using economic statistics. He also defended his performance in office as governor of Arkansas and discussed the necessity for health care reform. close
