House members debated a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks except in cases of rape or incest. The bill was pulled from the House floor in January 2015 because of opposition to the bill’s language providing exceptions for late-term abortions only in cases of rape and incest if the incidents were reported to the police. That provision would be replaced with new language requiring doctors to ensure the victim receives medical treatment or counseling for the rape at least 48 hours prior to the abortion. close
