Senator Paul Simon, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, discussed his book Advice and Consent: Clarence Thomas, Robert Bork and the Intriguing History of the Supreme Court’s Nomination Battles, published by National Press Books. Sen. Simon spoke on his career as a politician and author, his experiences on the Judiciary Committee, and the Supreme Court nomination battles that have preceded the battle over Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas in 1991.
