Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) said that phone records would be less safe under the House-passed USA FREEDOM Act. bill that has private phone companies keep the records instead of the National Security Agency (NSA). Senator Collins said this means that thousands of private sector workers would have access phone and data records, pointing out that the private sector is regularly hacked. Senators Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Mike Lee (R-UT) also spoke, saying the Senate version is a good bipartisan compromise. close
