Events were shown surrounding the arrival from France of a replica of the 18th century sailing ship that brought General Marquis de Lafayette to the United States in 1780. He brought news that the French government would be sending thousands of soldiers and sailors and dozens of ships to help in the fight against the British. This program included scenes of the arrival, interviews with crew members and the president of the American Friends of L’Hermione, and portions of speeches by French and American government representatives. close
