Cuban Public Health Minister Dr. Roberto Morales talked about his country’s efforts to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), including HIV. In addition to STD prevention, Dr. Morales spoke about the overall success of Cuba’s health care system, and what the normalization of relations between the U.S. and Cuba would do to further improve health care.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on June 30, 2015, declared that Cuba was the first country to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis. close
