Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Gore and Sen. Dodd held a news conference after the Senate voted to override the president’s veto of the Family and Medical Leave Act. They criticized the president for supporting “family values” while opposing the legislation, which would force large employers to allow employees up to 12 weeks unpaid leave to care for a newborn baby or an ill relative. close
