Labor Secretary Thomas Perez testified before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pension Subcommittee on Education and Workforce Safety. He addressed questions on a proposed rule aimed at eliminating conflicts of interest for retirement advisers. Obama administration officials say the rules would discourage bending existing conflict-of-interest rules, while financial industry representatives argue the rules would increase costs for future retirees.
