Margaret “Peggy” Bowditch talked about growing up in Los Alamos, New Mexico, next door to J. Robert Oppenheimer, director of the Los Alamos Laboratory, who became known as the “father of the atomic bomb.” She talked about the parties her parents hosted for famous scientists as well as her family’s relationship with the Oppenheimers. Ms. Bowditch’s father headed the Los Alamos Ordnance Division during World War II and was part of the crew that dropped the first atomic bomb.
