Heather Conley introduced a new Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Europe Program report, The New Ice Curtain: Russia’s Strategic Reach to the Arctic, which examines Russia’s economic, energy, and security strategies and aspirations in the Arctic, and the evolution of the Kremlin’s Arctic policies over the past decade. Ms. Conley, the report author, and project consultant Marlene Laruelle talked about the Kremlin’s policy in the Arctic region. Steven Lee Myers also gave his reflections on the report. Topics discussed included the Conference on Global Leadership in the Arctic (GLACIER) to be held the next week in Anchorage, Alaska. close
