C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2015 LCV Cities Tour” in Syracuse, New York, from September 19-25 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Sarah Flick and Dave Kellogg gave a tour of the home of Matilda Joslyn Gage, on of America’s early feminists. Ms. Gage made women’s rights the core of her life’s work, and believed that all freedom struggles were connected. She entered the movement at a women’s rights convention held in Syracuse, New York, in 1852, during which she delivered her first public speech.
